New Fuel Prices for March 2026: ZERA Announces Latest Rates The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has released the updated fuel price structure effective March 4, 2026. Motorists and businesses across the country will see a slight adjustment in both Zimbabwe Gold (ZWG) and US Dollar prices for the next two weeks. The New Price Breakdown As of today, the maximum pump prices for Diesel and Blend (E5) are as follows:

Fuel Type. ZWG per Litre US$ per Litre Diesel (50) 45.55. $1.77 Blend (E5) 44.01. $1.71

Government "Cushioning" Prevents Steeper Hikes According to the official notice, these prices have been influenced by rising costs in the international market. However, ZERA noted that the Government has intervened by reducing certain levies to protect consumers from "astronomical increases." Without this government cushioning, the prices would have hit significantly higher marks: Diesel would have been $1.90/litre. Petrol (Blend) would have been $1.81/litre. This intervention saves motorists roughly $0.13 per litre on Diesel and $0.10 per litre on Petrol.

What This Means for You?

Two-Week Window: These prices are expected to remain in effect for the next 14 days, during which ZERA will continue to monitor international market developments.

Mandatory Blending: The current blending ratio remains at E5 (5% ethanol). Displaying Prices: All fuel service stations are required by law to display these prices clearly on their boards. While these are the maximum allowed prices, operators are permitted to sell below these rates to stay competitive.

Verification: Always ensure you are following the official ZERA rates to avoid overcharging. You can verify these figures on the official ZERA website or their social media handles.

How to Save Fuel in Zimbabwe?

With prices hovering near the $1.80 mark for Diesel, it’s a good time to practice fuel-saving habits:

Plan your trips: Combine errands to avoid multiple short starts. Check tyre pressure: Under-inflated tyres increase rolling resistance and fuel consumption. Smooth driving: Avoid aggressive acceleration and heavy braking.
